Full description

Step into the heart of the Salento countryside for an immersive wine experience that blends tradition, innovation, and deep-rooted passion. Nestled among ancient bush-trained vines just a few kilometers from the Ionian coast, this tour offers a unique perspective on one of Italy’s most fascinating winemaking regions.
Your experience begins with a peaceful walk through rows of primitivo vines, cultivated using the traditional “alberello” method that defines this area’s viticultural identity. As you wander past the low, gnarled plants—each one with stories in its soil—you’ll learn about the region’s terrain, the microclimate near the coast, and why this land is considered ideal for bold, expressive wines.
From the vineyard, you’ll be guided to a modern winery built next to a restored rural estate. This thoughtfully designed space blends contemporary winemaking technology with architectural elements from a historic masseria. The contrast between modern stainless steel tanks and star-vaulted stone ceilings creates a striking harmony between innovation and heritage.
Inside, you'll visit the production area, where local experts explain the journey from grape to glass—sharing insights into the harvest, fermentation, and vinification processes. You’ll also see the equipment used during production and learn how techniques change depending on the wine’s intended character.
Next, step into the aging rooms, where oak barrels, tonneaux, and barriques rest quietly alongside a newer experiment: ceramic jars handcrafted by artisans from nearby Grottaglie. Here, you’ll hear how aging vessels shape aroma, texture, and flavor, and how each material influences the final product. The cool, quiet air and scent of oak and wine deepen the sensory experience.
After the tour, you’ll sit down for a guided tasting of three selected wines—each one expressing the soul of the land. Alongside your glasses, enjoy a curated selection of typical Taranto-area delicacies: local cheeses, artisanal salumi, and crunchy taralli. The tasting is led by a local guide who will help you discover nuances in each wine, share stories of the vintages, and connect the flavors back to the soil and sun you just explored.
This region has long been a hidden treasure for wine lovers, and through years of close collaboration with local growers and continuous research into the soil, grape varieties, and aging techniques, the winery you’ll visit has helped bring this potential to light. As part of your experience, you’ll also pass through the office area and panoramic meeting room that overlooks the estate’s vineyards—offering one last breathtaking view of the land that makes it all possible.
Whether you’re a wine enthusiast or simply curious to discover the richness of southern Italian traditions, this experience offers a perfect blend of education, exploration, and indulgence in a truly special setting.
